Proceedings of the XXIX International Union of Game Biologists Congress (Moscow, 17–22.08.2009) — M, 2009

The general problems of interrelation between a man and the nature include such questions as protection, reproduction and rational use of animal resources. Nowadays they are becoming more and more important in many countries in the world. By changing the animals' habitats in the process of his life activity, a man makes them adapt themselves to new existence conditions. Thereby the conservation of animal diversity acquires the priority. Importance of this item is underlined by acceptance of international and national strategies of biodiversity conservation by many countries including Russia in 2001. The General Assembly of United Nations declared 2010 as a year of biodiversity.
The research activities on numerous questions of hunting and game management, animal resources usage have been carried out for a long time in many countries and in Russia as well. Protection, reproduction and increase of quantity of these resources are possible only on the basis of biology studies, achievements in implementing zoological culture and other biological aspects of rational game management.
The XXIX International Union of Game Biologists is devoted to discussion of the problems of biodiversity conservation, the development of game biology and wildlife management. It was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and the International Union of Game Biologists (IUGB). More than 500 delegates from 27 countries participated in the Congress; there were 235 oral and 40 poster presentations. These communications are presented in the "Abstract Book".
Comprehensive consideration of problems, mutual exchange of views and experience by participants of the Congress shall be a new contribution to the development of the world science and will promote a progress and coordination of joint researches, mutual understanding of scientists on discussed questions particularly.
