The participants and guests of the Congress are invited to visit the Prioksko-Terrasny State Natural Biospheric Reserve on the 19th of August. The reserve is situated in the south of Moscow Region. There are 54 species of mammals, 137 species of birds and the Central Bison Nursery in it.

The Memorandum of understanding concerning conservation, restoration and sustainable use of the saiga antelope (Saiga tatarica tatarica) was signed on June 25 in Bonn on behalf of the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Yelena Skrynnik.

The Memorandum of understanding was concluded in the frames of Bonn convention on migratory species. 

This document provides in particular the cooperation in the sphere of saiga antelope efficient security and its habitats, scientific, technical and juridical information exchange necessary for measures coordination in respect of conservation, restoration and sustainable use of saiga antelope.

The saiga antelope conservation will become the central theme at the International Union of game biologists congress (IUGB) which will take place on August 17-22, 2009 in Moscow. The ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation is the organizer of the congress.

The young delegates will get an opportunity to take part in the special contest among the scientific reports and become the prize winners “Youth choice”. The authors of the best works will get money prizes 25000 rub., 20000 rub. and 15000 rub. correspondingly for the first, second and third places. The participants will be awarded after the selection by the expert council headed by the leader of the congress youth section, the head of the geographic faculty conservation department of the MSU mr. Kapitsa. The scientific committee of the congress is entitled to give a special prize 5000 rub. for the most relevant theme. 

The deadline to submit the reports is 15.06.2009 to the e-mail report@iugb-moscow2009.ru with a note “Youth choice”. The requirements are pointed out in the congress reports and publications precept at the web-site.

President of International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC) Dieter Schramm and Secretary General / Senior Policy Advisor of FACE - Federation of Associations for Hunting & Conservation of the EU Dr. Yves LECOCQ have confirmed their participation in the work of the Organizing Committee of IUGB-2009.

The 6th International exhibition «SAFARI EXPO. SPRING-2009» and the 3d Specialized Exhibition «The Hunting World of Russia» were opened in the threshold of spring game season on February 26, 2009 in the IEC Crocus Expo. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation conjointly with the IEC Crocus Expo are the organizers of the exhibitions.

The deputy minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Mr. Yury Kukuev and the director of the Hunting Management Department of the Ministry for Agriculture of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Melnikov took part in the official opening ceremony.

At the press conference for mass media Yury Kukuev told about the preparations of the 19th International Union of Game Biologists IUGB-2009. All the information materials about the forthcoming congress were provided at the stand IUGB-2009.

The meeting of the scientific committee of the XXIX International Congress of Game Biologists IUGB-2009 took place on November, 12, 2008. It was presided by President of IUGB-2009 Mr.Vladimir Melnikov.

The all-Russian summit conference of federal subjects’ executive powers and representatives of Rosselkhoznadzor territory authorities took place from 21 till 23 July 2008 on the subject «Government and normative and legal regulation in the field of hunting and game-management: problems, purposes, solutions». The conference was organized by the Game management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

V.A. Izmaylov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, welcomed participants with opening address.
V.V. Melnikov, director of the Game management Department made a speech on «Present-day condition and perfection of normative and legal regulation in the field of hunting and game-management: purposes, problems and solutions».

The discussed questions and problems are very important in the light of the XXIX International Congress of Game Biologists IUGB-2009, which will be held in Moscow from 17 till 22 August 2009. In the frames of the conference the presentation of the Congress was conducted.
