The history of the IUGB Congress

The IUGB Congress begins its history in 1954 after the First International Union of Game Biologists in Dusseldorf (German). And beginning from the 1950-s the IUGB Congresses are held every two years with a view to discuss numerous global problems in the field of wildlife biology.

Generally Congresses take place in European countries. In 2005 the XXVII IUGB Congress were held in German, in Hannover, 51 years later. In 2007 the XXVIII IUGB Congress passed in Sweden, in Uppsala.  (Report on the 28th IUGB Congress >>>)

In 2005 by the proposal of Russian game biologists and «Association of social unions of game biologists and fishermen of Russia» the International Committee of the IUGB decided to hold the next Congress in Russia, in country which plays the large role in world community.

The XXIX IUGB Congress which will take place from 17.08 till 22.08.08 in Moscow is organized by The Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

The main governing body of the IUGB is the General Assembly, composed of representatives of more than 70 countries and presented by International Committee of the IUGB Congress.
