The Sex Offender Registry website is updated regularly based on information provided by state and local government agencies and the registrants themselves.
The site is intended to provide the public with information concerning the location of sex offenders.
If you believe that any of the information found in these records is in error or is incomplete, please contact the Yankton Police Department at (605) 668-5210.
The streets of Cologne, Germany seem far from the windswept plains of North Dakota. In our work, we’ve been exploring a sex panic that has unfolded in rural Western North Dakota, in the context of the biggest oil boom in the region’s history.
While the circumstances are very different than those of Cologne, both became occasions for the ordering of social and political life, and opportunities to see societal anxieties laid bare.
Registrants do move and may fail to notify the relevant law enforcement office of their change in residence.
As a result, law enforcement cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information.
The Yankton Police Department has not considered or assessed the specific risk of re-offense with regard to any individual prior to inclusion within this registry, and has made no determination about any individual included in the registry.
Individuals included within the registry are included solely by the virtue of a conviction record and South Dakota Codified Law (SDCL).
The main purpose of providing this data on the Internet is to make the information more easily available and accessible, not to warn about any specific individual.
The purpose of this list is to promote public safety from the potential risks posed by individuals who have committed offenses in the past.
